A week in the life of Criterion Partnership
29/05/2009, Author: Donna Conway

We are very lucky to have Issy with us this week, who is on a weeks work experience. Issy will be writing a diary of her experiences throughout the week to help give a better insight into the Criterion world! Over to you Issy.....
Day One
It’s May 11th and I’m here on a work experience placement for the week, today is my first day and so far I have been working with Linda, Donna and Trevor in one of the offices. I’ve spent the day getting to know everyone and helping out with various jobs such as admin work, typing up documents and making databases which will be used in the future to help design new online assessments. Spirits are running high in the office even though the shredder is being temperamental, and has decided at least twelve times that it doesn’t feel like doing its job.
So far I have really enjoyed myself; the people in the office have been very welcoming. As you may have heard from previous blog entries, Criterion Partnership have recently moved offices and are now in a nice area above a theatre and more importantly opposite a pub (all ways handy for group morale!!). The offices are bright, airy and calm with different areas used for different things, such as quiet areas, meeting rooms and general storage areas. It has a tranquil atmosphere which is helped by the fact that the offices are right by the sea.
I look forward to writing again tomorrow with more about what it’s like to work at Criterion Partnership for a week.
Thank you for reading,
Take care, Issy
Day 2
I’m on my second day here at Criterion Partnership and I have been working in the office again, doing online assessments and looking through user manuals for future clients. Also I have interviewed some of the team on a meeting that took place a few months ago and writing up the information to put on the blog. Later today I am travelling to Portsmouth to sit in on a training course tomorrow run by Alison. I’m not sure what the course consists of as yet, but I look forward to blogging it (is that a verb) tomorrow. My time here is continuing to be interesting and fun, as my experience of a ‘Week in the life of Criterion Partnership’ progresses.
Thank you for reading,
Take care, Issy
Day 3
I’ve been very lucky today; I’ve had the unique chance to sit in on one of the Leadership Development Programmes that Criterion run. It was really interesting, and made us think about the way we talk to others and what we could do to improve this. It was mainly about the different styles of leadership and how to successfully manage a team of people working on the same project as you. The structure worked really well, with lots of different exercises, discussions and much appreciated tea/coffee breaks!! I really enjoyed the course and everyone was really friendly. Alison and Luigi ran the course and really engaged their audience, each having their own individual approach to leading the group. Alison was very warm and led the course with conviction whilst Luigi had a relaxed, facilitative style with lots of humour. They definitely complimented each other and worked well as a team, keeping the delegates interested and amused!
All in all I had a really good time and thought that the course was fantastic. Thank you very much Alison and Luigi for letting me come along.
Thank you for reading,
Take Care, Issy
Day Four
I couldn’t come into work today because I had a GCSE Biology exam, would much rather have been at Criterion than in the sweaty gym even if I was shredding all day!
Day Five
I’m back in the office today, doing more interviews and battling with the printer trying to get it to print tonnes of tricky confirmation letters. I’ve had loads of fun this week and learnt a lot. I’ve been thinking about taking psychology A level and being here this week has given me a great firsthand experience and shown me more of an insight into what psychology entails! It’s very busy here, and I’m really grateful to everyone for donating me some of their time so that my week has been full of things to do and never boring!
Thank you for reading my blog, and I hope it has shown you more of what life in Criterion Partnership is like.
I hope to see everyone soon, Thank you again!!
Take care, Issy xx
