How to find Criterion Partnership
The Criterion Partnership offices are in Hove, actually. But we sit just metres from the Brighton-Hove border, just far west enough to give us a Hove address and postcode. But spiritually we remain in Brighton.
Our west of city location means we are close to both Brighton and Hove railway stations with their extensive rail links to London and the West Country.
We recommend that all visitors to Criterion travel by rail where possible, since Brighton's roads are both busy and a labyrinthine and parking is a nightmare.
If you're a digital native you can get directions by pasting our postcode BN3 1AS into the AA route finder or use Google Maps. Alternatively use our directions below.
Criterion Partnership by rail
By far the best way to reach our office is by train since we are only a 10-15 minute walk from Brighton station or a 20-25 minute walk from Hove station. Both Brighton and Hove stations are connected to London Victoria. Hove station also connects to stations to the west. You can get a cab at the rank at either station or walk following the directions below:
Walking from Brighton station
Leave Brighton station and walk down Queens Road towards the sea front. You will reach a crossroads at the Clock tower, where you should turn right to follow Western Road (which is the main high street). You'll pass lots of shops until you reach a Waitrose on the corner of a crossroads with Montpelier Road - keep going for another 100 metres or so. Turn left off Western Road down Upper Market Street. The Criterion offices are above the Old Market Theatre on the south side.
Walking from Hove station
Leave Hove station and walk down Goldstone Villas to the end of the road. At the bottom of the road turn left into Blatchington Road. Follow this along for about 100m and you will cross Grand Avenue into Eaton Road. Follow Eaton Road until the end and turn right into Palmeria Avenue. Follow this road until the end and you will reach the floral clock area. Turn left into Western Road (which is the main high street) and keep going for another 100 metres or so. Turn right off Western Road down Upper Market Street. The Criterion offices are above the Old Market Theatre on the south side.
Cycling from either station
The same directions will work - there are no tricky one-way streets to test your cycling ethics. You may have to push your bike across the Clock tower junction. There are bike racks located outside the offices.
Criterion Partnership by road
Best avoided.
From the East/West on the A27
- When approaching Brighton on the A27 from the west, turn off at the Devil's Dyke junction signposted Brighton & Hove.
- At the roundabout take the second left for Brighton - Dyke Road
- Continue down this road (Dyke Road) to Seven Dials roundabout and take the 4th exit Vernon Terrace - B2122 (signposted Sea Front).
- Pass straight across the first set of traffic lights
- At the second set of traffic lights turn right into Western Road
- After about 100m turn left onto Upper Market Street.
- The Criterion offices are above the Old Market Theatre on the south side.
From London and all points north M23/A23
- When travelling to Brighton on the M23/A23, leave the A23 at the exit signposted Worthing and follow the signs for A27 west to Worthing. Do not take the eastbound route as this will take you to Lewes and Eastbourne.
- You should take the left-hand lane going up the hill and you will see a sign for Brighton and Hove.
- This brings you to the roundabout mentioned above and then continue as indicated from the second bullet point above.
Parking
The nearest car-park is the NCP Regency Square, which is off Brighton seafront and about a 5-10 minute walk to the Criterion offices. Alternatively there is limited pay & display street parking in the area. Both options are pricey.
