Criterion Partnership and Boots win regional training award

10/10/2008

Boots and Criterion Partnership were proud winners of the Partnership & Collaboration award at the National Training Awards this week.  These awards are designed to celebrate organisations and individuals that demonstrate outstanding business and personal success through investment in training.

This win was a result of Boot's staff training programme which was designed in partnership with Criterion to encourage staff to promote and deliver more 'Medicines Service Check Ups' (MCUs) within their pharmacies.  The MCUs required pharmacists to conduct customer consultations in-store, offering advice on the correct usage of their prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines.

The training programme was introduced as a result of some stores delivering very few or no MCUs initially.  It went on to produced award winning results in terms of its impact.

The designed blend allowed training content to be cascaded cost effectively from Learning & Development down to individual store staff, without losing consistency or enthusiasm.  As a result of the training there was 83% uplift in MCUs in 6 months, which worked out as 14,500 extra MCUs taking place over this period.  Out of these extra consultations:

•    5,000 more customers were identified as needing GP referrals.
•    1,450 more customers were found to be ON THE WRONG MEDICATION.

Life changing results were therefore witnessed.  Clare Clark, Head of Learning & Development Healthcare at Boots commented;

"Working with Criterion Partnership was key to this programme’s success. They knew exactly how to tap into the psychology of our target audience(s).

The feedback from our Area Development Managers, and store teams proves that we got to the heart of their concerns and resolved them."
