HR Excellence Win for ASDA and Criterion

01/07/2009

ASDA and Criterion Partnership were proud winners of the Most Innovative use of Technology award at the HR Excellence Awards this week.  These awards are designed to celebrate organisations and teams that have carried out outstanding HR initiatives.

Having launched an online job application website in 2002, processing 45,000 applications a year, ASDA developed their ‘Supersifter’ site in 2008 to take their recruitment proposition to the next level.  The features of this site included

- A reduced number of clicks for job seekers from job search to application
- Tailored assessments for more than 400 jobs
- SMS and web 2.0 functionality
- Five candidate reports

The winning results of the project included:

- The number of applicants reaching interview stage being reduced from 10 to 3 or 4
- Cost per hire was cut by 88%, delivering an annual saving of £2.6 million
- Incomplete applications have reduced from 25% to 8%
- Average time taken from job advert being placed to the selection of a candidate reduced by 84%

The HR Excellence judges commented ‘Asda was prepared to step out of the normal business model.  Rather than tweak an existing product, it designed a totally new one.  Everything suggests its working’.

This is the second win for Criterion Partnership in two weeks, having won a Training Journal award last week for a leadership project developed for Dstl.
