Performance management at Dstl – could soon be award winning
09/06/2010
Two of the UK’s leading HR & L&D magazines HR Excellence and Training Journal are currently considering Criterion Partnership and Dstl for awards, based on their work in partnership to make huge improvements to Dstl’s performance management system.
Up for ‘Best Public Sector HR Strategy or Initiative’ at the HR Excellence awards and the ‘Peer Award for Innovation’ at the Training Journal awards, this is a reflection of the huge impact of the intervention, which has focussed on helping technical leaders to have valuable and meaningful performance management conversations.
Evaluation of this programme showed some huge positive shifts in Dstl’s annual staff upwards feedback surveys between 2006 and 2010. These surveys measure the quality of conversations staff report to have had with their line manager in the areas of recognition, feedback, career planning, training & development and ownership. The improvements also produced an annual cost saving to Dstl of approximately £24,000.
With the HR Excellence Award results being announced at the end of June and Training Journal soon after, both Criterion and Dstl wait with baited breath for the results. So watch this space!
