Alan Redman

Alan Redman

Alan is a director of Criterion Partnership and a chartered occupational psychologist. Alan worked in management roles within retail, hospitality and financial services businesses before joining Criterion in 1996.

Alan works across the areas of assessment and development and is a specialist in the design of online psychometrics. Alan has developed a range of off-the-shelf online assessment instruments with Criterion as well as bespoke systems for ASDA, British Gas, Homebase and the Environment Agency.

Alan believes that it is essential to combine elements of humour, originality and challenge in order to develop interventions that are engaging, pleasurable and memorable for the people who use them.

Alan is a BPS Level B verifier, a founder member of the Association of Business Psychologists (ABP) and a qualified hypnotherapist. He is an occasional conference speaker and has presented a range of topics including “Dawn of the Digital Natives”, “Candidate-friendly psychometrics” and “Self-defence in the workplace”. He was Dean of the highly successful 2007 ABP conference, which focused on the light and dark sides of business psychology. More recently Alan returned for a second stint as conference dean for 2009 conference 'Business Psychology in an age of Austerity'.

Alan lives in a remote cliff-top retreat overlooking the unforgiving rocks, the dead-eyed seagulls and murderous seas off the Brighton coast, not far from the Criterion offices. He gazes long and hard out to sea and reflects on the capriciousness of life and the hungry jaws of perdition.
