Alan Redman

Alan Redman

Alan is a director of Criterion Partnership and a chartered occupational psychologist. Alan worked in management roles within retail, hospitality and financial services businesses before joining Criterion in 1996.

Alan works across the areas of assessment and development and is a specialist in the design of online psychometrics. Alan has developed a range of online assessment instruments with Criterion as well as bespoke psychometrics for ASDA, Centrica, Travelodge, Argos and the Co-operative group.

Alan was elected as Chair-Elect of the British Psychological Society's Division of Occupational Psychology in 2011. He is also a BPS Level B verifier, a founder member of the Association of Business Psychologists (ABP) and a qualified hypnotherapist.

He is an occasional conference speaker and has presented a range of topics including “Dawn of the Digital Natives”, “Candidate-friendly psychometrics” and “Self-defence in the workplace”. He was Dean of the highly successful 2007 ABP conference, which focused on the light and dark sides of business psychology. More recently Alan returned for a second stint as conference dean for 2009 conference 'Business Psychology in an age of Austerity'.

Alan believes that it is essential to combine elements of humour, originality and challenge in order to develop interventions that are engaging, pleasurable and memorable for the people who use them.

Alan spends a significant proportion of his time on one of his bikes. You may spot him in all weathers cycling from the South Downs to the sea on his way to the Criterion offices. You may see him cycling across one of the UK’s cities on his way to a client’s offices. His time in the saddle has given him a thousand-yard-stare, a determined set to his jaw and oily fingernails.
